Get Rid Of Hickies

There will be many times in your life when things will get hot and heavy between you and your partner. Usually the outcome of such episodes can be evident from the ‘love bites’ that are left on you as a mark. Love bites or more commonly known as hickies (or hickeys) can be a result of your partners ‘active’ love making but they can turn out to be a nuisance the very next morning. People try to judge you and you end up wearing something outrageous just to hide the hickey. But there are other ways (Some conventional and others non-conventional) that can be used to hide or vanish your hickeys.
First of all let’s take a quick lesson from the dermatology class. What exactly is a hickey on skin level? Basically a hickey is formed when tiny blood capillaries rupture underneath your skin due to pressure imbalance. This pressure imbalance can be caused by someone trying to ‘suck-up’ against your skin. The result is that the pressure inside the blood vessels exceeds the outer pressure prevalent on the capillaries and the capillaries rupture. The best way to get rid of hickeys would involve not getting then at all! This could mean talking to your partner nicely and explaining him/her the whole story and the embarrassment that you have to go through but conversations like these can turn out to be uncomforting; so let’s turn to other methods of getting rid of hickeys!

Many times, applying ice immediately to the affected area can help with the bruising. Ice cools don the area and helps lessen the bruising and reduce the mark left behind. Massaging the area gently with your hands can also help disperse the blood resulting from the bruise. The mean idea is to stimulate the area so coagulation of blood can be avoided. For this particular effect, Vitamin K can also prove to be pretty resulting from the bruise. The mean idea is to stimulate the area so coagulation of blood can be avoided. For this particular effect, Vitamin K can also prove to be pretty handy. Commonly available Aloe Vera gels can help quite a bit. Take a little dab of the gel and rub it gently over the affected area and you will notice that the mark starts to diminish.
Sometimes hickeys can prevail for over 48 hours. In such cases it is not uncommon to observe swelling around the hickey. For such kind of bruising a wet and warm compression should be applied to the affected area as the heat expands the capillaries allowing more blood to pass through, thus improving blood circulation in the area.

Hiding Hickies; Switching to Plan B

Applying cosmetics isn’t a bad option either. A good shaded concealer can hide a hickey within minutes and you don’t have to go through the painful routine of applying compressions. Just figure out your natural skin colour and apply a concealer of that exact same colour.
Other unconventional methods include twisting a lipstick top over the hickey to improve blood circulation or pressing the area with a spoon to that affect. But applying undue pressure o the already troubled area can cause a further degradation of the bruise. A last option could be to wear something fancy to cover the hickey! For the neck and upper chest region, scarfs in the winters can help conceal the hickey. Perhaps a T-shirt can also help if the hickey isn’t present on your neck. But If the hickey is on your neck, you can always go for a turtle neck sweater. After all, if Steve Jobs can wear it, why can’t you!
