How to Get Rid of Argentine Ants

Argentine ants have the distinction of being ranked at the top of the list of the “world’s worst animal/pest invaders”.
These ants are dark in color and the fact that they have several queens per nest make them harder to get rid of than other species.
Recently it’s been discovered that the three distinct types of the Argentine ant are related – now entomologists refer to them as a single ‘supercolony’.
Two inexpensive steps for prevention are to seal off their access to your home – and don’t ‘feed’ them.
How to Get Rid of Argentine Ants Fast
How to seal the outside of the house for preventing the entry of ants?
A first essential step is to prevent the ants from entering your home to begin with. Start by sealing the cracks below outside doors and around the windows. Be sure to seal around the plumbing pipes under kitchen cabinets, the washer and dryer, and in the bathrooms. Use weather stripping around the doors. Caulking or putty is easy to work with around the windows and pipes.
Sprays and powders used for ant killing
If you’re caught off guard, like coming home and finding you’ve had an ant invasion, you might try sprinkling talcum powder at the obvious points of entry, around baseboards, under the sinks, etc.
Reports vary on the effectiveness of this – some people claim that talcum powder works great and others say it doesn’t work at all- but if there’s nothing else handy at the moment why not give it a try ? It’s supposed to work by dehydrating the ants when they ingest it, and drying out their eggs when they return to the nest with it on their bodies.
Another idea is that it works as a repellent – the ants simply don’t like it!
Sprays and sweet baits are widely used for killing Argentine ants. In dryer seasons
also spray the outside window seals and (outside) entrances.
Argentine ants are harmful for gardens
Yes, the Argentine ant is the pest that never stops.. being a pest.
They eat virtually anything, and will destroy  the young shoots and more developed leaves of your mature plants.
They’re also one of nature’s transport systems for aphids,
carrying them along into your garden to do even more damage.
Sprays and granular treatments work best for your garden, and when you see
the dark Argentine ant, act immediately! Their ability to multiply so fast means that
even with early detection, complete eradication can still take up to 2 months!
Need more information about ants killers?
Not hard to find these days, with a computer and a few clicks. Obviously, we’re
a big supporter of Amazon. They generally have more detailed information on the
products they sell than the on line hardware stores and other outlets.
But even better, you’ll always find customer reviews from people who’ve used
the products. And there’s nothing better to go by – people are brutally honest,
whether it’s in a good way or a bad way.
A final interesting fact. The Argentine ant population is now estimated to
equal or exceed the human population – 6 billion and counting.
