1. Switch up your diet.

When you take a look at the causes of dark circles, you can begin to imagine some solutions. As stated previously, one main issue that causes/worsens these circles is a lack of iron in the diet. In order to reduce this problem, try eating more foods high in this mineral.
Foods high in iron include red meat, seafood, and dark green vegetables such as spinach and kale. Try to eat at least one serving of a high-iron food every day. This should improve the condition of your dark circles.

2. Avoid computer screens (as much as possible).

In today’s society, it’s pretty difficult to avoid staring at a screen throughout the day. We have our computer screens at work, cellphones in our pockets, televisions at home, and the list goes on.
We know with today’s society it’s hard to avoid this during the day, but do your best to take breaks from looking at the screens wherever you can. Look away for a few minutes every hour while at work, and put your phone away whenever you have the chance. This can do wonders for your dark circles!

3. Sleep habits.

Getting a proper night’s rest can feel nearly impossible when you have a busy lifestyle. However, getting a good night’s rest on a regular basis should dramatically improve your dark circles and/or puffiness around the eyes. An adult should be getting at least 7 hours of sleep every night.
If you find that you have trouble sleeping, there are some things you can do to help improve bot your quality and quantity of rest. Try exercising regularly and laying off the caffeine after about 1:00 pm. Also, do something relaxing right before bed. Try reading a book, or take up meditating. Remember to avoid bright screens late at night!

4. Natural treatments.

There are plenty of ways to reduce the appearance of dark circles under the eyes using natural sources that you are likely to find in your own home. Keep on reading to discover a few of the many natural treatments out there.
Cucumbers have skin-lightening properties that are great for reducing dark circles. The coolness of the cucumber is also very soothing for the skin around the eye.
Take a cucumber and cut two ½ inch slices. Be sure the cucumber is chilled first. Hold the slices up to your eye area for 10-12 minutes. Do this once every day for at least one week.
In the same sense as the cucumber, the tomato can have a great lightening effect for your circles. Add 2 parts pure tomato juice to 1 part lemon juice and mix well. Apply a thin layer of the juices to your dark circles and leave for approximately 10 minutes, and rinse well. Careful not to get any in your eyes; that lemon juice can burn!
Tea bags have also been proven to improve the appearance of dark circles under the eyes. The caffeine content and antioxidants can reduce puffiness and improve your skin.
For this method, use green or black tea only. Put 2 used tea bags in the refrigerator until cooled. Place one over each eye, and let sit for about 10 minutes. After time is up, rinse off the area. You can use this method twice a day for 2-3 weeks.

5. Makeup and collagen building creams.

Some people like to use collagen building creams to help get rid of their dark circles. These creams can be a little bit expensive, so do some research before purchasing. Look up reviews and explore other people’s experiences with the various brands/types. If this option appeals to you, purchase your ideal cream and follow the directions on the package
Dark eye circles can be a challenge to rid of naturally. If you would like to simply hide them away with makeup, it’s key to do so correctly.
Buy a high-quality concealer that is slightly lighter than your natural skin tone. You want the slightly lighter tone to offset the darkness of the circles. Apply a small amount of this concealer onto the circles and dab with a makeup sponge. Make sure that it is applied evenly, and does not have a caked-on appearance. After applying, brush a light amount of makeup powder over top to set the concealer.

Where do these circles come from?

Most people think that these circles are caused by a lack of sleep. While this is one of the causes, there are many more factors on the list. The dark circles that we see under our eyes show up because of the thinness of the skin in this area when compared to the skin on the rest of our bodies.
When light hits this skin, the blue/brownish colour of the blood vessels have a tendency to show through the thin layer. This is why so many of us deal with these frustrating circles. Some people are more likely to get dark circles than others, as their skin is just naturally thinner in this area.
Aging processes also have an effect on the skin in this area, as the skin loses elasticity and it’s thickness over time. Dark circles are also a result of other factors such as allergies (which inflame blood vessels), a lack of iron and/or malnutrition, and staring at screens for too long.
Having dark circles under your eyes can be highly unpleasant. Who wants to look sick and tired all the time? In order to finally get rid of this problem, try out some of these tips! You’ll be happy to finally get rid of those pesky dark circles.
