Best Ways To Get Rid Of Fever Blisters Overnight

Dealing with a fever blister can be a painful and embarrassing situation. Fever blisters can make it painful to talk and smile and can be a nuisance to care for. These red and irritating sores often ooze contagious fluids that can cause other blisters to form when the fluids are spread. Fever blisters, or cold sores as they are often called, contain the herpes simplex virus and commonly form around the mouth. If one is looking to get rid of a fever blister fast, there are several remedies that can be used.
Ice
Ice is commonly used to alleviate pain and quickly remove unsightly fever blisters. It is suggested that one take a cube of ice and apply it directly to the cold sore. Do not remove the ice until it melts completely. This may be difficult for some to do but it is worth it if it will get rid of the blister. Once the area has dried, apply rubbing alcohol with a soft cloth or cotton swab. It is important to dab or pat and not rub the alcohol on the area in order to prevent the chance of spreading the virus.
Tea Bag
Many people have had success with using a tea bag to quickly get rid of fever blisters. These bags contain tannic acid and other elements that help the body fight off the form of herpes associated with cold sores. All one has to do is saturate a black tea bag with water and ring it out to get rid of the excess water. Apply the bag directly to the blister and leave it there for at least 15 minutes. After applying, rinse the area to get rid of any left behind tea drippings. This process should be repeated at least twice a day in order to render the best results.
Salty Toothepaste
Salty toothepaste is another remedy that is known for getting rid of fever blisters. Use a non-gel toothepaste along with a 1/2 teaspoon of salt and mix them toghether in a small bowl or cup. Apply the mixture to the affected area using a cotton swab, covering the entire blister. The toothepaste has ingredients such as sodium lauryl sulfate that works against the cold sore virus and the salt serves as an anti inflammatory that soothes soreness and gets rid of redness. For the best results, let the paste stay on the blister overnight and carefully wash off in the morning.
These remedies are common household products that many people already have in their homes. If not, then one can easily obtain them by taking a quick trip to the grocery store. To help prevent irritation, only try one remedy at a time.
