Best Ways To Get Rid of Butt Stretch Marks

It’s a well-known scenario: Getting ready for the beach, you head to the store to buy all your beach needs such as towels and suntan lotion. You spy the perfect bikini and you just had to have it. Once you get home, you try the bikini on to see how it looks like from all angles and there you see it-butt stretch marks mottling all over your smooth backside. Yikes! What should you do then?
Stretch marks, sadly, are just a normal part of life. Stretch marks are caused when our skin is stretched down to the dermis, which is the middle layer of our skin. Once the dermis is stretched, it leaves scars that do not heal the way scars on the epidermis or the outer layer of the skin, does. These skin stretching are generally caused by a rapid growth such as weight gain or muscle buildup. They can also be caused by pregnancy and growth spurts, meaning no age group is particularly invulnerable from developing stretch marks of their own.
Getting rid of stretch marks is not easy, and it will take time. It’s probably best that you use a combination of the suggestions mentioned below for the best results.

Products Aimed for Stretch Marks

There are a number of products in the market that are aimed specifically for stretch marks. They include:
  • Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Alpha hydroxy acid functions in a similar way as most exfoliants. They remove dead skin cells and encourage new ones to grow. The new skin will become lighter, making the stretch marks much less noticeable.
  • Salicylic Acid. Typically used for acne and pimples, there are stretch mark products and creams that feature salicylic acid to get rid of stretch marks. It breaks down the protein in your skin, removes dead skin cells and lessens the appearance of stretch marks.
  • Retinoids. Retinoids help repair the skin and encourages skin growth nearer the topmost layer of the skin, also known as the epidermis. The more often you use retinoid, the more you’ll be able to encourage skin to grow. It’s usually best to apply retinoids after taking a bath, so that it won’t wash off.
Be sure to check that your skin won’t be irritated with products that include these elements. You can do so by applying a bit on the back of your hand and leaving it on for a few hours. If you notice redness, swelling or red bumps developing on the area afterwards, it’s not the skin product for you.

Exfoliate

Exfoliating the areas of your backside that has stretch marks helps get rid of the dead skin and lessens the appearance of stretch marks. Take note that exfoliating will not remove the stretch marks, only make them less obvious.
Exfoliate once a week using any exfoliating products or an all-natural exfoliate made from baking soda, oatmeal or yogurt. Make sure that you use lotion after using an exfoliate so that your skin won’t end up dry. It’s also best if you do your exfoliating while taking a bath to make application of the exfoliant and lotion much easier.

Moisturizer and Lotions

Remember how you would regularly put lotion or moisturizers on your hands or face before going to sleep? You can do the same for the stretch marks on your buttocks by applying moisturizers or lotions made for stretch marks on the affected area. Doing this during the night time means that you’re less likely to rub it off. You’ll still roll around in bed, but that’s a lot less activity than what you do during the daytime.
For moisturizers, look for those that are enriched with Vitamin A and E, two vitamins that help skin regenerate and be healthy.
For lotions, you can try your hand at cocoa butter, which is said to be one of the most effective in getting rid of stretch marks anywhere in your body. You should also look out for anti-stretch mark products that contain shea butter, rose hip oil, castor oil or jojoba oil, all that have naturally healing properties that work well on your skin.

Lose or Maintain Your Weight

The best way not to aggravate your butt stretch marks is to prevent them from stretching out rapidly again. Choose your ideal weight and stick with it, as a fluctuating weight will likely show on your buttocks. Not subjecting your body to a stretching and loosening of skin is the best way to keep your skin taut. Losing weight can also help your skin to bounce back to the way it originally was, hiding the stretch marks better.
To keep your buttocks in shape, include squats, leg lifts and yoga. Running, jogging and most leg exercises will also help shape your butt.

Eat Healthy

Eating healthy, with food that are rich in vitamins A, E and C, will help keep your skin healthy and elastic. A good balanced diet will also help prevent a yo-yoing weight, which in turn will prevent your skin from stretching out suddenly.
Drinking lots of water can help with your skin’s moisture and elasticity. Be sure you drink the recommended amount of water daily.

Surgical Solutions

Since the butt is one of the more difficult body parts to get in shape, and it’s not uncommon for people to seek a surgical solution to the butt stretch marks problem. Your options include microdermabrasion, which is a method that strips away the top layer of your skin to encourage growth. There is also endermologie, which massages your skin and encourages circulation. Laser therapy
Other cosmetic surgery will cut away the damaged skin to let new skin grow and replace it. However, sometimes the skin cannot be removed and you cannot get a guaranteed result.
Before hitting the beach, remember: Butt stretch marks happens to everyone! Think of exposing your butt stretch marks as an opportunity to get an even sun tan on your buttocks, which, by the way, are another way to hide your stretch marks. Good luck!
