Get Rid Of Sore Throats Fast

Sore throats are always troublesome. They are very common and caused by many things varying from common colds to other more serious conditions that are cause for a trip to the doctor. However, a sore throat is often caused by every day irritants and do not require professional medical help. If you?re suffering from a sore, itchy or burning throat and do not require medical attention, or have already seen a doctor and are just looking for extra relief, read on to learn how to get rid of a sore throat fast.
Stay Hydrated
Often one of the first signs of being under hydrated is a dry, parched and scratchy throat. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to both prevent and relieve this feeling. Eating fruits that are water heavy will also help. Some great hydrating fruit choices would be melons (such as watermelon or cantaloupe), peaches, strawberries, kiwi or citrus fruit.
Vinegar
Vinegar has so many beneficial properties it is hardly surprising that it can help cure a sore throat, too. Vinegar can both help with the pain and attack the bacteria that may be causing the sore throat. If vinegar sounds a little harsh try mixing apple cider vinegar with honey, lemon and cayenne pepper for a soothing cocktail.
Control Mucus
A very, very common cause of sore throats is post nasal drip. When excess mucus has nowhere to go, it is swallowed and can cause your throat to swell in defense. Mucus can also cause you to cough, causing even more irritation to the tissue of your throat. You can try over the counter decongestants for this problem. Keeping a humidifier where you sleep can help control the amount of mucus being leaked down your throat as well. If you need to cough or blow your nose, do so instead of letting the mucus build up.
Herbs and Teas
Drinking hot tea has always been a go-to fix for many ailments and a sore throat is no exception. The hot liquid soothes your throat but there are herbs and extras you can add to make it even more affective. Lemon and honey are often obvious flavor options but some other less obvious choices that work wonderfully are garlic, cinnamon and cloves.
Always remember that prevention is the best medicine and keeping yourself hydrated, healthy and happy can work wonders against any oncoming ailments, including the dreaded sore throat.
