How To Get Rid Of Sunburn

It’s holiday time! You and your friends have flown off to the sunny climates and come “hell or high water”, you are not leaving until you have the perfect suntan! But then, first day out, you spend too long in the sun and now all you want to learn is how to get rid of Sunburn.
This does not necessarily mean that you have to move inside away from the sun, since you can make one or two simple changes that will help to reduce your exposure to the sun’s rays. First of all, you should dress in soft, cotton clothing which will cover the area of your skin that is starting to itch. Second, if you are a stubborn person and insist on staying out in the sun, you should keep moving around, thus changing the angle of the sun on your body and away from the itchy area. Of course, you should always wear some sort of hat, since it stands to reason that if your body is burning, there is a strong possibility that your face will also start to burn as well.

When And How To Start Sunburn Treatment

As soon as you return to your home or hotel, you need to start properly applying Sunburn treatment. As an initial preventative step, you should take a cold shower and it must be stressed that the water ought to be cold or at least definitely no more than lukewarm. If the water is too warm or hot, it will only aggravate the Sunburn. In any event, make sure the cold or warm water runs over the area of skin that is Sunburned and to be safe, it should run over your entire body.
How To Deal With It At Home

Step out of the shower and using a soft fluffy towel – make sure it is soft and not stiff as it will only agitate the sunburn – pat yourself gently until dry, then step in the shower once more and repeat the process. You should keep repeating this process every hour or so as it will help to relieve any pain that you may be feeling from the Sunburn
We will assume this time that the Sunburn is not too severe and therefore you really want to learn how to get rid of sunburn, whilst at the same time retaining your suntan. This next step, which may appear smelly and odd, will help you achieve that goal. Take a clean spray bottle, if available and fill it up with ordinary domestic vinegar. Don’t be alarmed by the vinegar as its smell will have disappeared within one hour of application. Spray the vinegar over the sunburned parts of your body and let it drip/dry. Under no circumstances should you rub the vinegar with a cloth to dry it off, as this will only agitate the Sunburn. However if it is still dripping after about 5 minutes, which is unusual, you can then pat it dry with a tissue.
Once the vinegar has dried, you can get dressed in loose comfortable clothes, trying not to cover any Sunburned area of your skin since the Sunburn needs to be exposed to air and not hidden away from it.
It may well be that you do not have an empty spray bottle to hand and if this is the case, you can apply the vinegar by pouring a little onto a cloth or paper tissue and then dabbing on to the area of Sunburned skin. You can repeat this process every couple of hours until you have applied several coats of vinegar to your skin.
With light Sunburn, the itchiness should have stopped, now you need to apply a moisturiser cream, which will give your skin a cooling and refreshing sensation, at the same time replenishing the moisture in your skin. This method should stop your skin peeling thus enabling you to keep your suntan. Enjoy the sun but always remember how to get rid of Sunburn when you stay out too long.
